First Impression

At first glance, the packaging of the Shiseido is similar to the Gatsby Moving Rubber Series. However, it uses an aluminum container rather than whatever material Gatsby uses, giving it a more salon-like design—but it doesn’t look as cool. It also requires as much effort to open it as Gatsby, since it is round. The UNO Fiber Neo Series also comes in 80 gram containers, just like their rival. My primary reason that I got this was that it was more popular than Gatsby, making it their main competitor in Japan. In terms of use and ability, I would compare this product to either the Pink or Grey Gatsby. It has great hold and leaves a natural, soft finish to your hair.

The Review

When you open the container, you will see a pearl white wax that has a similar consistency to Gatsby Cool Wet. When you use your finger to scoop out a finger amount, a string of wax follows, like to a cheesy pizza. Because of this, Acrobat Wire is very easy to control and spreads effortlessly around your palms and hair as well. The wax is very light so it won’t weigh your hair down if you are going for the insane spikes. It has great, flexible hold and leaves your hair looking soft and natural, almost a matte finish.

It is like having the hold of Pink Gatsby and the no-shine of Grey Gatsby: it’s the best of both worlds! I would not recommend this product to use as fortification for spikes because the consistency will spread easily onto your hair bundles, saturating it. My technique is to first shape my faux hawk with it and then apply clay or wax to define my spikes. Products that will go well with this are wax/clay to fortify spikes (I use and recommend Pink Gatsby) and hairspray (I recommend Pantene Texturizing Hairspray) for all-day hold. Both of these products and their reviews can be found on Style06. This product is best for short to medium hair lengths; I do not recommend using it on long hair, because long hair is heavier and requires far too much product to lift.
