Garnier Manga Head – Product Review

Written by: Brianlam

First Impressions

If you’re like me, you probably grew up watching Dragon Ball Z. I’d be lying if I told you I never wanted a Super Sayian hairstyle. With Garnier Manga Head it was possible for me to finally become Super Sayain. I came across “Manga Head” online and I decided to give it a go. When I opened the tub my face was blown away with a fresh fruity smell. Those who’ve used Garnier products before would know of the delicious fruit smell that they all come with…I was tempted to lick  XD.

The Review

Anyway, the “putty” looked like it was a cross between Wax (the colour and volume) and gel (the texture and stickiness). It came to me as quite a shock to see how easy it was to make my hair go up . It gave me good control over the direction of my spikes. Its endurance was also a plus. I had a bike helmet on for a bit and Manga Head managed to keep the style together.  It’ll stay all day.

Unlike Gatsby, Manga Head is sticky and allows your hair to harden up to keep the shape of your desired style. It’s also pretty hard to wash out unless you use shampoo, and it isn‘t recommended you leave it in your hair for more than a day or two. I found Manga Head in Coles (Australia) for around $ 8-9. You should be able to find it in any good hair salon or chemist. If not, you can buy it online for around the same price excl* postage and handling.  After using Manga Head you’ll be blasting Kamehamehas everywhere.

  1. Hah I remember using this, Soo many better products out there, this wasn’t that great!

  2. definitely not
this caters only for the short end, its very hard to control the hair and a lot is needed for it to set in the place u want it. This product is made for one specific haircut only, which is very short, very layered and very thinned hair. If you apply enough however, you can mould the longer aspect of short hair and this lasts only about 2 weeks. I used this and found that after using this, if i tried to used hair spray, somehow the hair spray would ‘dissolve’ the putty, as in, the hair would go damp, stay damp and drop. This putty + hairspray= nono. In the wind, unless it was hard and shiny, would change your hairstyle. The product spreads very well across your hair if you apply it to your entire head, but it spreads almost too well. It leaves areas without product like you had never applied anything, even though u apply more, it still stays soft in your hair. Water + putty= nono also. If you are asian, stick with Gatsby or Shiseido, the people who know asian hair and produce for it rather than a product that will cater decently for all hair types but brilliantly for none. But for a product with no other aids (hair straighteners, hair spray) it’s an alright product, but I stress again, stick with the popular asian products.
