Nakano wax is a popular hair wax found in Japan. If Gatsby moving rubber was considered a Honda Civic, then Nakano wax would be the BMW of hair wax. At the same time Nakano wax are much more pricey in comparison to Gatsby moving rubber. Nakano Wax comes in 8 Colors (or numbers), and ranges between soft to hard and glossy to matte. Check the chart below!
For this review I’ve tried Ultra Super Hard (black), however the color of the actual product is white. The smell is pretty decent and is not very strong, so you wont be polluting the room at all. The hold achieved is much better than Gatsby and the product tends to dry pretty fast. Once settled the product does not give a very sticky feel to the hand. The biggest advantage I feel, is it washes off relatively easy hence doesn’t damage your hair as much.
| Pros: | Cons: |
| Easy to wash off | Price is a bit steep for hair products |
| Matte texture | |
| Strong Hold | |
| Little Smell | |

I’ve used #5 and out of all the ones I’ve tried (Gatsby grey, pink, ultra tough styling clay and some arimino waxes) I find the Nakano series to be the best for me. I’m interested in trying #7. Anyone have any experience with that one? I still need hairspray for #5, so I’m hoping that #6 and #7 will last me the day without needed as much spray on top.

Anyone tried the blue one (#4) for short hair? I want something that has a good hold, but I don’t want to go for the strongest if I don’t need to.

This has to be the best wax I’ve used so far. Easy to use, not smelly, good hold, and not glossy. It’s very pricey, but it’s worth it.
