L’Oreal Paris Studio Architect texturizing wax

Written by: Brianlam

So a couple of weeks ago, I went to a nearby drug store and looked through the hair care aisle. I was hoping to find some good stuff to replace my Gatsby (not replace it, but so I don’t overuse my Gatsby). I was looking through all the brands and I stumbled upon L’Oreal. To be honest the first thing that I could think of was that commercial they had about it (you know the funny commercial where guys are kicking soccer balls at each other’s the face). So I looked through which one suits my hairstyle and ran into the purple one (the one I’m reviewing right now). So I said to myself “why not try it out, if it’s good I would buy more”.

First impression

My first impression of L’Oreal was that it was a high end brand; it does get its name out there. However, when I see other people style hair they rarely or never use and L’Oreal products. So I was in a little bit of doubt when I was buying it. I live in Canada so it was about $9 Canadian. When I opened the lid it had a purple shine in it so I thought I would add shine to your hair. The texture of the wax feels almost (if not) the same as Vaseline. In my opinion, I like Gatsby’s spiky edge; creamy and soft. The smell that it has is smells good at first, but then gets annoying after you smell it for a long time. (Just doesn’t do it like Gatsby).

The Review

When I started putting this stuff in my hair, it was good. The wax was forming the shape and felt very easy to use. However, it adds somewhat of shine so if you’re not the person that wants that, I wouldn’t use this product. When I was done styling my hair it turned out nice, it defined my spikes very well and kept my hair up. But when the product starts getting in the sun or just getting worn out, your hair starts falling down or puffing out (which you don’t want, but possibly can be fixed with hairspray). The product is also a bit oily; I don’t think that it’s too hard to wash off so that’s a plus. So in conclusion, I think that this wax is good to use ( depends on what you’re looking for) but definitely not as good as others like Gatsby or U.N.O. I would only get this product if you can’t find any other good hair products and you don’t mind spending a few bucks on this hair product. I would just go to the nearest Asian hair salon and buy Gatsby there.

Pros: Cons:
Defines spikes moderately well Adds shine (if you don’t want that)
Easy to use (beginners should use this product). Oily so if too much is applied you can have greasy hair
Adds a bit of shine (if that’s what you want) Just doesn’t feel as good as Gatsby or U.N.O
Hair doesn’t feel too hard, but soft Wax wears off at around 3 hours

Overall rating: 7 (still gets the job done, but can be done better with other hair products).

  1. Please tell me which wax is best i had buy loreal architect shine but not used yet. Please tell me in how much amount would i use it and for which style it would be better
    Thank you

  2. L’oreal paris wax is one of the worst hair wax i’ve used imo..

Its holding power fails bad and you literally have to use a large amount to texturise your hair :/

one of their better wax brand is the indestructible wax. other than that its 1/10 for me :3

  3. im just saying it adds shine, some products add more some products have less
from my experience, it adds more than usual

  4. Omg you fail, who the hell complains about shine when you by the “Add shine” kind.
