Gatsby Moving Rubber Loose Shuffle (Orange) Product Review

Ah how refreshing to get an insight into the Gatsby series from a female point of view! Although my hair is a bit long and thick for this product now, I used to use it a lot back when my hair was quite short (like shoulder length).

Well when I first used this, I just tried to do what they did in those hilarious tutorial videos (you know the ones with the sleepy looking guys); getting a finger-full, spreading it on the palms of my hands then sort of getting it all in your hair. After several attempts, I realized that it just won’t work with my heavy hair. But I think the feathery type hair would still work with that technique. Anyway, so I realized that I needed to apply the stuff to each layer of my hair, not just in one go. It holds reasonably well; if you’re looking for spikes, then this is not for you though. It’s good to just give the top layers of your hair a bit of extra volume. And you can do the twist thing pretty well. I find that it’s also quite good for making greater distinctions between each layer or grouping hair. However a decent blast of spray is required if you want the style to last all day. So far I haven’t encountered any negative effects this product has on hair, but then again I don’t use it everyday nor do I use a great amount each time. Even so, it doesn’t seem to be as hard on your hair compared to others in the Moving Rubber series; it washes off relatively easily, it doesn’t leave hair dry or damaged and the smell is pleasant and still remains subtle throughout the day. Oh and the smell is delicious. It doesn’t smell like a hair product. It smells a green apple Breezer. Yum.

Pros Con
Not shiny or wet looking at all A bit troublesome to apply for people with heavy or thick hair
Great for adding a bit of volume Additional product is needed to ensure the style will last the entire day
Good hold for light, “feathery” hair
Easy to wash off
The scent is really yummy

So overall, I found this to be a pretty good product, especially because I have this thing against Moving Rubber for some reason. It’s great for adding a bit of volume to your hair, or to define layers. I would recommend this one for girls with short to medium hair as well as guys with medium to long hair.

  1. What do u mean by ‘poofy’? I suspect you mean a lot of volume, which would be Air Rise (the green one). That would give your hair volume if you have medium to long hair and if used correctly can give a ‘poofy’ look. I think Possibly Nuance Motion (the yellow one) also could give some volume but I think it’s more for styling of longer hair than giving it volume.

  2. what one is for poofy hair
