You read right. At last, StyleO6 presents the full and complete review of Fog Bar Blue (Softly Fix).
As you may have heard from Weesee, all of the StyleO6 staff was very excited to get their hands on the Fog Bar from Shiseido.
For those of you who have yet to be introduced to the Fog Bar, please visit Weesee’s article of the Fog Bar here.
Fog Bar Blue is designed to give a soft flowing effect to your hairstyle and imitate that look you get when a soft breeze weaves into your hair. Hence the subtitle of “Softly Fix”. Don’t be fooled by the name, though, because its got all the hold you need. Two to three sprays of the product is all you really need to create that “Air-ry” feel to your hair. Also, due to the fact that the product is very watery, it is very hard to over saturate your hair with the product. So you won’t have to worry about getting that ugly Lego figurine- hard plastic look on your hair—which is a big problem for most hair gel and wax products, especially if you’re like me, not used to doing your hair much. The wateriness of Fog Bar Blue allows it to be easily absorbed into the hair instead of just being applied on the surface of the hair. This gives you the hold you want without weighing your hair down, giving you a more natural “air rise” feel to your hairstyle because it doesn’t clump your hair together like regular products would. You’re left with a very natural finish because it absorbs so well into your hair. You don’t have to worry about overabundant shine like you would with hairspray or gel.
Now, I know what most of you are thinking at this point: “Doesn’t that mean it’s just hairspray with a makeover since it’s so watery?” and “Doesn’t it mean it will damage your hair more since it absorbs into your hair so well?”.
I thought of that, too. And here’s what I found.
I will be the first one to admit that when I first put on the product, I thought it was practically just the same as hairspray. The first thing that crossed my mind was “Wow, hairspray from Shiseido”. It was only later on in the day that I found out the true nature of Fog Bar Blue and its differences from hairspray. I went to great lengths to ensure that I had a full and complete review of this product. I went so far as to leave the product in my hair for 3-4 days straight…… STRAIGHT!
With hairspray you always risk the chance of it being too oily and having it run after being in your hair for too long. This does not happen with Fog Bar Blue, it stays true to its promise of being a spray gel. Never do you feel like there is something in your hair with this product. You don’t feel it even when you touch your hair. If you spray it onto the back of your hand or something like that, you will notice that when it drys, it has a plastic kind of feeling. Similar to what Gatsby Moving Rubber feels like when it drys. However, the feeling only lasts a moment and then is gone. Never do you feel the irritation you usually get when you leave product in your hair for too long. I attribute the hold and comfort that this product gives to this phenomenon which I just tried to explain. Also, everyone knows that hairspray eventually loses its effectiveness over time. With gel and hairspray, you lose hold and volume over the course of the day. I can say that this did not happen with Fog Bar Blue, even after 3 days. It was like my hair decided to hit the gym and get juiced up on steroids. The most amazing thing is that my hair still retained its natural pliability. You would think that I would be able to spear fish with the tips of my hair from what I just told you. But the truth of the matter is that it didn’t do that. My hair still swayed in the wind etc. etc. I could even run my hand through it and my hair would go back to the way I set it. Obviously, it didn’t go back 100%. But whatever was out of place could easily be fixed by a sweep of the hand.
I know that most people are really curious about how much damage it does to your hair at this point. Does it damage your hair!?
Well, let’s be honest. Everything we put into our hair except conditioner damages it. I can only say that I believe that it doesn’t do any more or less damage to your hair than other products. I can say for certain that it comes out really easily, though. It comes out just as easily no matter if you’ve had it in your hair for one day or five. Trust me, I checked. I also didn’t notice any increase or decrease in hair loss, shine or anything like that. If you’re worried about this product damaging your hair…use more conditioner then. Either that or find yourself a chemist.
I think it’s safe to say that most people can tell I’m quite happy with Fog Bar Blue. However, nothing is perfect. Weesee was right when he said that for the price, you don’t get that much product. Also, because of the pliability your hair maintains, on really windy days your hair can go from incredible to institutionally insane. Don’t expect your hair to hold its shape in storm winds with this product. Luckily for you readers, there was a really windy day where I lived when I was doing my review. You can fix your hair quite easily when you get inside, though. You don’t have to worry about it in normal wind conditions. When I say wind storm winds, I mean Storm Winds. Please don’t ask for a KPH number. Another thing is there might be a learning curve to using this product for people who have gotten used to gels and waxes. Col and Weesee are way better at doing their hair then I am and they mentioned that they thought the product was hard to use. I, on the other hand, thought that it was much easier to use than any gel or wax that I’ve tried. I can only conclude that this product was designed for people who are not used to using gels and waxes. Or people like me, who are too lazy to do their hair most of the time. Also, although it says this was meant for long hair, I think it’s best that people with medium to long hair use it. I don’t see it working quite as well for, say, a girl with long hair to or passed her shoulders. I would think that a lot of product would have to be used for that work.
That concludes my review of Fog Bar Blue, for those of you who made it to the end of this review. My congratulations, I know it was long.
Look forward to the review of Fog Bar RED. Coming Soon.
